Co-Secretary-General , China ABS Forum of 100

Raymond is one of the pioneers in China’s securitization industry. He is co-secretary-general of China ABS Forum of 100, vice chairman of China REITs 50 Forum, and chairman emeritus of Amoy Association of Asset-Backed Securitization. He advised the first securitization transactions in China’s inter-bank markets and stock exchanges. He was an “expert advisor” to China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) in 2004 and co-founded the China Securitization Forum (CSF). He also played a leading role in the first Hong Kong listed REITs (2005) and first CMBS deal (2006) backed by Chinese properties.

Raymond started his career in banking and asset management in 1994, when he was a portfolio manager and head of mortgage analytics at Ocwen Financial, a Florida-based financial services firm specialized in distressed assets. He also worked as a securitization banker at RBS Greenwich Capital and Wachovia Securities, before relocating to Asia in early 2003.

He co-founded the asset management department at China International Capital Corp., and headed Citigroup’s securitization business in Hong Kong and China. He was a managing director at the Royal Bank of Scotland (2006-2009) where he led RBS’s investment in Suzhou Trust. He was CEO of China Alpha Investment Management Ltd., a money manager in Hong Kong (2009-2012). As a managing director at Barclays Capital (2012-2015), he was nominated as vice chairman at New China Trust, a subsidiary of Barclays in China.

Raymond holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China.  He is an adjunct professor at the School of Management and Economics, the Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen.
